TRIBE

TRIBE is a companion and information tool for Runway Startup Postdoc & Spinout Programs at Cornell Tech

Runway Startup Postdoc @ Cornell Tech
The Runway Startup Postdoc Program is part business school, part research institution, and part startup incubator. Based at the Jacobs Technion-Cornell Institute, Runway ushers recent PhDs in digital technology fields through a paradigm shift — from an academic mindset to an entrepreneurial outlook.

Spinout Program at Cornell Tech
To date, students have created 18 startup businesses. Many of those new businesses helped along by Cornell Tech’s Startup Awards, which provide funding and other support to student teams who want to spin out their Startup Studio projects after graduation.

CHALLENGE

Runway and Spinout Startups, at least once a week, have to send updates or have a follow-up meeting with the Cornell Tech Startups Program's director. Each company has different information to deliver depending on their activities and growing speed. They have unique ways to monitor their progress, send out information, or request resources from Cornell Tech.
How can we facilitate the communication between Cornell Tech and the Startups, and standardize the way the companies measure their progress?

PROPOSAL

We have created TRIBE, a tool that allows Startups to keep track of their progress facilitation the updating process and communication with Cornell Tech. The MVP is a web application, but later it will have an app for the Startups founders and employees.

The landing page is open to any visitor, serving as a way to promote the Runways and Spinouts Startups. For investors, this is a medium to review the Cornell Tech Startups portfolio and directly contact the founders.

The sign in is restricted, and only the Startups founders and employees have access through a specific password and username designated by the administrator. One of the most significant challenges faced is how to manage the security protocols and protect the confidential information of each Startup.
